Vertimax for Power
The Vertimax is a useful tool to make our Athlete's more explosive.
The basketball player who wants to jump higher, the adult who wants to do legs but "not lift a lot of weight" or in this case, Dean Duchak who was preparing for his senior football season at Georgetown University.
We did a "Power Hour" workout with the Vertimax to not only increase Dean's power output, but also utilize the Vertimax as a means of Conditioning.
We can alter the resistance of the chords to change the intensity as well as what muscles have to work. This picture displays Dean utilizing the Vertimax "to the Max." He will be resisted by not only his waist, but his arms have tension due to the wrist straps as well as his hip complex.
More is not always better in this case, because of the amount of load (resistance), we will ask for a stronger output(movement) from the athlete with less volume (i.e. reps)

Straight Bar Squats = Power!
We still say, "it's not about how much weight" but about technique and developing stronger, faster and more explosive athletes.
However, we can not ignore the progress Casey Gallagher has gained in her "off-season" at Good Energy! Casey nursed a quad issue all Fall and has worked OT at Good Energy 3x per week this winter to get her body to the next level!
135 Pounds for QUALITY reps is IMPRESSIVE!

Power
Scott Delventhal-Susquehanna Football (soph/TE)
Scott has really taken advantage of our Strength & Power program since late Spring after exams.
All of Scott's main lifts have increased in weight including the Bench/Squat & Hang Clean.
Scott is a "fast cleaner" meaning his style of clean is a fast hip & pull action that elevates the bar in an efficent manner.
We try to allow our athlete's to have their style..and then try to coach them to get better at their technique whether they need to elevate the bar faster, include more hip explosion...or just do everything stronger!
