Reactive Stick Warding!
Contrary to many so called "expert's opinions," GOOD ENERGY believes that preparing our athlete's for their respective sport goes beyond lifting weights and running on a track unless you are a weight lifter or track star, but even then we would vary your workout to incorporate alternative exercises to recruit different muscle groups.
Brian & A.J. are performing "Reactive Stick Warding." This exercise simulates their skating pattern with reverse diagonal strides and they strengthen their warding stick skills by applying pressure to the Barbell Rack using various grips on their stick with both dominant and non-dominant grips.
Our hockey plays are getting more fluid in their basic hockey skills while in a controlled environment (not on their skates) but utilizing the same movement patterns they perform on the ice. The Winter Pre-Season was a breeze because in addition to Fall Hockey, these guys are mastering their movements along with strength & conditioning at Good Energy!

OVERHEAD 1 LEG SQUAT
Okay, so TAYLER WEJNERT is a basketball star at Colgate University, but believe it or not we convinced Tayler to "cross-train" one day and promoted this workout as a "ATHLETIC MOVEMENT" program.
She bought into it and actually had a great workout feeling as if she had a 1 hour dynamic stretch and massage at the same time because she recruited so many more muscles than a "normal" workout.
Above she is simply performing an Overhead 1 Leg Squat using the Hockey Stick as a prop. She must try to keep her chest out and back flat while performing a squat- maintaining proper alignment with her hip - knee and ankle for maximum stability.
Tayler appreciated our creative approach to training and although holding a hockey stick over her head, realizes that for stability, strength and postural concerns, this exercise will make her perform better on the basketball court.

Medicine Ball Lunges With a TWIST
Casey is performing a walking lunge with a twist in the transverse plane to recruit her hip flexor and transverse abdominus.
This exercise was performed in the 3rd and final circuit as a dynamic exercise to increase range of motion in her abs, psoas and hip complex to increase her flexibility!
See, it's not ALL about the weights!

Sport Specific - Athletic Performance
A GE "Newbie" - Ramsey H.S. junior Kyle Nelson is performing 10yd Broad Jumps during a Lower Body workout.
Kyle is a participant in our Strength & Power program. Although a junior, Kyle is a beginner to strength training and his 8lb weight gain and improved strength numbers in just 6 weeks is a good indication that he is receptive to our training.
We look forward to watching his improved performance on the hardwood for the Rams this winter & hope to see him play Varsity baseball this Spring in the outfield for the Rams.

DUCK UNDERS!
Alicia Daniele, senior IHA softball pitcher is performing a Duck Under. Alicia is excelling on her club softball team this Fall and performing GE 2x per week to increase her strength, add velocity to her fastball and keep her focus.
The Duck Under is a movement but we also consider it a dynamic core excercise. As you can see, Alicia is remaining in an Athletic position, while transfer her bodyweight from right to left - requiring more muscles to fire by maintaining proper posture.
