NEW Athletes - Adults - Accomodating Schedule

Summer 2016 - Week #4

GE BackYard
Allendale, NJ

Pictured is All North Jersey lacrosse player from Saddle River Day school, senior Daniella McMahon performing a 3-Way Lunge in our morning Lower Body class.

Our class schedule includes Tuesday morning Adult Lower Body at 5, 6 and 9:30am. However many of our high school & college athlete's like Daniella headed to Stanford University next year, have joined the classes that fit in their schedule based on their loaded Summer schedule's.

For All readers of our site that are not familiar with our program, we have distinct days and times for specific workouts, therefore giving you or your student athlete the flexibility to perform the classes that are appropriate for them to prepare for excellence in their sport.

All athletes will perform an Introduction/Assessment in which we will screen the newcomer to get a better understanding of how they move, and prepare the best plan to help them get to the next level in their fitness while minimizing risk for injury through our detail oriented program.

Phase I Testing - Summer 2016

Speed & Agility Results

GE BackYard
Allendale, NJ

We are not just testing in the three main lifts this Summer - Squat, Clean, Bench, but also some Speed, Agility & Athleticism as well.

Pictured is Alexa Magnotta, a senior at TCNJ who will be a four year starter for the in-State DIII perennial power house field hockey team.

Alexa is from south jersey but has a local internship this summer preparing for life after college. We are so excited to work with Alexa because although she has been a dominant force on defense for TCNJ the last three years, she has not had an intense training regiment like she will participate in this Summer with our Staff.

Alexa has been very receptive to our training early on this Summer and we know that it will make a positive impact for her next Fall.

Last Tuesday - Alexa and her 4pm GE Speed Class participated in Testing which included this Broad Jump, Dot Drill (Footwork), Pro Agility Shuttle, 10 Yd Dash, Three Cone Drill and Vertical Jump.

We will test our applicable Athlete's prior to their departure for Pre-Season the last week of July 2016.

Allendale, NJ

Today marks "Day 1" of Testing Week.

This week, and how we "test" is important for many reasons. We teach our Athlete's "How to COMPETE!" in the weight room.

You don't just press a button when you get on the playing field, the competitive edge starts with the right mindset & mental approach to a strength & conditioning program.

We will perform each lift:
Squat - Bench & Clean
With proper technique, or else the lift doesn't count. We will program appropriate weight for each lift that has been calculated in some cases based on 14 weeks of training and this week is actually the 3rd Testing week during that time frame - Winter/Spring into Summer.

Testing does not just consist with Lifting as we will Test & Teach our Athlete's "How to Test" in Speed & Agility drills including:

10 YD Sprint
Pro Agility Shuttle
3 Cone Drill
Dot Drill
Vertical Jump
Broad Jump

It's not too late to get into our Summer program, however - beginners will start at Base Zero and work their way up. We do not perform Testing for Athletes just beginning in our Program.

We are excited for this week as our College Athlete's came back to our facility with s Focus & Great Attitude to really make Big Gains this Summer and with this mental approach we expect them to achieve Success results in their Testing.

Memorial Day Weekend - 2016

GE Spring becomes Summer

Allendale, NJ

We will have our Normal hours on Friday, 5.27.16 and Saturday - Closed on Sunday and Monday to honor the Memorial Day holiday.

Tuesday begins our Summer program so everyone needs to "re-up" for sessions.

The Summer session is:
May 31 - September 3, 2016
14 Weeks

Your Summer GE is based on your schedule, so not everyone has a set schedule due to vacations, camps, showcases and travel ball.

We will accommodate your schedule as long as you commit to our training within this Summer's time frame. A non-committed schedule will not provide any results.

Summer 2016 - started Early!

Olivia Kraebel verbally commits to Elon

April 28, 2016

Allendale, NJ

Liv Kraebel pictured doing a reverse wide bar curl during an "In Season" Upper Body session in the GE Shop this Spring under the watchful eye of Strength Coach Matt Jimenez.

This past year has been an up and down emotional experience as Liv's high school and club soccer teammates have been verbally committing to various colleges to play at the next level.

Liv has tried to stay patient and continue to work hard and believe in herself and this past week the recruiting process came to a happy end with her verbal commitment to Elon University to play soccer in the Fall of 2017.

At GE we are used to helping student athletes during their recruitment, but the unknown can make for an uneasy time. We try to focus on providing sound training and encouragement because the key is to stay fit, avoid injury and continue to Believe in yourself.

GE Adults Sprinting into May 2016!

Sunday: 05/01/16

Tri-State Area (NY, NJ, CT)

Yesterday we were busy gathering all the results from our various races across the tri-state.

Although we had Fall-like weather, 48 degrees and raining - it was great to hear that several members of our team were doing big things.

Terri Peri & Kristin Shute joined some other Girls on the Run coaches and did a 5K trail run in the Englewood Cliffs.

Personal trainer & spin instructor Victor Orellana participated in the 5 Borough Bike Tour in NYC with some friends and past clients.

Katie Ohnegian ran the NJ Half Marathon in Long Branch along with a friend and her cousin, Brian Kunisch a Weekend warrior at GE. Victor Orellana's Personal Training client - Nancy Schwartz did a great job in finishing her first Half Marathon in Long Brach as well. Sprinting the NJ Half Marathon was former GE Strength Coach Micahel Barrett who finished 9th overall amongst over 4,000 runners - Congratulations Michael!

Jason Nagy went from participating in his first Spartan Race one year ago to attacking the Spartan Beast yesterday with his running mate - Kevin Veenstra. The unknown was that race coordinators designed this Beast to be 16.5 miles of Work including many obstacles & a wet and cold climb through the mountains.

Great job to Everyone who raced, participated or attacked something this weekend and best of luck this Spring & Summer as there are many races and events coming up.
